It sounds, at first glance, strange, but there is a certain logic in such a name. It came from the German name for the already well-known Frankfurt sausages "Dachshundwurst", which means "dachshund sausage". These sausages were brought to the USA by the German emigrant C. Feltman in 1870, when he started selling them on a slice of bread. According to another version, the Feuchtwanger family began to sell sausages wrapped in bread. They wanted people not to burn themselves when they picked up hot sausages. The dish turned out to be very popular, and therefore quickly spread throughout the world.

Corn flakes

Where, if not in America, could corn flakes appear? After all, it is here that corn is considered the most common agricultural crop. The story goes that in the 19th century, the Kellogg brothers, while preparing another dish of cornmeal at the Battle Creek Sanitarium in Michigan, went away for a while, and when they arrived, they realized that the flour had deteriorated a little. And since all products were subject to strict accounting, they decided to make dough out of it anyway. Of course, their idea was not successful (as it seemed to them at that time), and they received only lumps and flakes. But the brothers did not despair and decided to fry them - many lumps surprisingly became airy and crispy. That's how everyone's favorite corn flakes appeared!

The history of this dish began with a common joke. J. Krum worked as a chef in a cozy restaurant in the city of Saratoga Springs (Saratoga Springs), where French fries (Amer. - French fries, Brit. - chips) were the signature people. During dinner, a wealthy guest asked to return the dish to the kitchen, explaining that the potatoes were cut too large. Then the chef, deciding to play a trick on the guest, cut the potatoes only as thick as a paper sheet and fried them in vegetable oil. The guest liked the dish so much that it later became a signature dish in the restaurant and was called "Saratoga chips". And later, Krum opened his own restaurant and put a mouth-watering cup of chips on every table. Gradually, they spread to other institutions and then to the whole world.

Hamburgers

Several people can be called the creators of hamburgers at once. First, there is C. Nagrin, a 15-year-old boy who started selling his own hamburgers at a country fair. Secondly, farmer F. Menchez from Ohio, who offered a bun with a cutlet inside as a lunch for his workers. There were other names associated with the history of the hamburger, but W. Anderson can rightfully be considered the founder of this dish, who in 1921 founded a whole chain of eateries with a signature dish - of course, a juicy hamburger!
